Patrik Antonius Inducted Into The Poker Hall Of Fame

Legendary poker player Patrik Antonius has been inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. With over $22 Million in total live earnings and a distinguished poker career, Antonius epitomises the Poker Hall of Fame values. He has competed in high-stakes games against top players of his generation, earning respect from cash game enthusiasts and tournament pros.

Ty Stewart, Executive Director of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), noted Antonius’ bold and fearless approach in the modern poker era. His induction as the first international player in several years is a testament to his high-stakes career.

Antonius gained fame through epic battles on Full Tilt Poker with Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Phil Ivey, and Victor “Isildur1” Blom in the late 2000s. His achievements include 11 live tournament victories, including the 2005 European Poker Tour (EPT) Baden Main Event and the 2024 EPT Monte Carlo €100,000 Super High Roller.

Antonius is the first European player to enter the Hall of Fame since David “Devilfish” Ulliott in 2017 and the first living European since 2008 when Henry Orenstein was honored for inventing the hole-card camera. According to the WSOP, Antonius surpassed John Cernuto and Isai Scheinberg in the voting to secure his nomination in 2024.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be inducted into the Hall of Fame,” said Antonius. “I’m deeply grateful to my family, friends, and everyone who supported me through thick and thin. Poker has been a lifelong passion, and I’m thrilled to see its growth and popularity reach new heights.” Reflecting on his journey, Antonius quipped, “The last 24-25 years in poker have flown by. I plan to continue playing at the highest level for years to come.”

Antonius was initially a promising tennis player who turned to poker after a back injury and crafted a storied career spanning over two decades. From humble beginnings in Sint Maarten, where he cashed in his first live tournament in 2003, to prestigious events like the European Poker Tour and Triton Poker Series, Antonius thrives.

His contributions to the game are revered among peers like Phil Ivey and Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, with whom he has engaged in memorable battles. In recent years, Antonius showcased his prowess by winning substantial sums in high-profile tournaments and achieving remarkable milestones in the poker community.

Looking ahead, Antonius expressed his commitment to maintaining peak performance: “I thrive on competing against the toughest competition in both cash games and tournaments. My goal is to continue playing and contributing to the game for years to come.” With a career marked by resilience and passion, Antonius is a cornerstone of poker excellence, earning his place in its prestigious Hall of Fame.
