It has been less than a month since poker giant PokerStars decided to bring back their popular poker tour called the Latin America Poker Tour (LAPT), along with the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) and the European Poker Tour (EPT). Now, its online rival partypoker has also decided to announce a live stop in the region, introducing the Latin America Poker Championships (LAPC).
With another big live stop announced in the region, this will be a happy time for South American poker players. The inaugural Latin America Poker Championships will run for a period of 9 days between 24th February and 4th March 2018 at the Conrad Resort on the coast of Uruguay.
The tournament series will see a total of $2 million in guarantees, including a massive $1 million guaranteed main event and a $200,000 guaranteed super high roller event. Satellites to the tournament series have already begun on partypoker with a lot of prize packages to the live event up for grabs.
Conrad Resort in Punta del Este is one of the prime locations in Uruguay, having hosted many live tournaments in the past. For partypoker, this won’t be their first event in South America. They’ve partnered with WSOP to host WSOP Brazil and have also sponsored the WSOP Uruguay main event in the past. Click here for a full schedule of the tournament!
“Poker has taken off in Latin America in a major way in recent years so it’s a very exciting time to be playing there. I’m delighted that we are hosting another event in the region, especially somewhere like Punta del Este which is such a fabulous destination. I know players are going to love it,” said partypoker LIVE president John Duthie.
