Pankaj Sharma wins Mega Stack on Spartan

Pankaj Sharma emerged victorious in the Mega Stack tournament last night at The Spartan Poker for INR 2,15,671. Sharma, has been playing poker for quite a while now and even received an award at the India Poker Championship Awards ceremony held in Bangalore last year for winning a side event at the India Online Poker Championship.

Sharma who plays under the moniker ‘chalhatbe’ outlasted 445 entries to take first place. Players in the event ponied up a buy-in of INR 3,300 (3,000+300) to play in this tournament and the field went onto surpass the original guarantee of INR 12 Lakhs eventually making a prizepool of INR 13,35,000. The prizepool was distributed to the  top 39 places with a min-cash of INR 9,212.

The end of the tournament came via a three-way deal between chalhatbe, cvc and Arch1806 . The final hand took place in Level #48 with blinds running 35,000-70,000-8,750. chalhatbe had 4c Ts, cvc had 2h 5h and Arch1806 had 3d 2c. After posting the mandatory bets, the pre-flop action saw chalhatbe folding while small blind cvc calls and big blind Arch1806 checked. The flop came Jh Js 8h. Post-flop action saw cvc betting 70K into middle to which Arch1806 folded. Right after this final hand the players settled on a deal and the winners were announced with Sharma taking first place for INR 2,15,671, cvc took the second for INR 1,88,502 and Arch1806 was second runner-up for INR 1,71,612.

Speaking to GutshotMagazine, Sharma said, “It was a great experience overall and I am still learning as much as I can to be there someday to win a big ticket event like the Millionaire. It was a smooth final table, had already played with most of them. I couldn’t play Millionaire this time because of some reasons but I think this win was due. This is my biggest individual score and I hope to get many more in future. Lastly, I want to give a shout-out to my younger brother Harsh Sharma for always having my back.”

Congratulations to Pankaj Sharma on this win and stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com for more such updates from the live and online poker arena.
