The European Poker Tour (EPT) has a current stop in the beautiful city of Barcelona and the top poker pros from around the world have flown to Barcelona to be a part of this popular tournament series. 34 tournaments have been scheduled in this series, but some of the highlight tournaments running at the moment are the €10,300 EPT High Roller and the €1,100 EPT National.
Earlier, we reported the status of the EPT High Roller, with the final nine players coming out to play on Day 3, with over €300k kept aside for the top place. In the EPT National, we have reached the end of the four starting flights, with over 4,000 entries registering during these days.
A total of 4,356 entries registered to this event, just shy of last year’s record-breaking 4,557 entries. From these, 682 players will progress to Day 2, to keep grinding and try to finish in the money of this prestigious tournament at the Casino Barcelona. Of these, many big names have also progressed.
Over 1,800 entries registered on Day 1c, with French poker player Youcef Benzerfa bagging the chip lead with 710,000 chips. Ludovic Geilich, who was recently appointed as a partypoker pro, also progressed with 405,000 chips. Day 1d was the late-night turbo flight, where 800+ entries also joined the tournament.
PokerStars themselves had quite a few Team Pros playing in Day 1c, but the company had a horrible day, with none of their ambassadors progressing to Day 2. All of Fatima Moreira de Melo, Randy Lew, Celina Lin, Jeff Gross, Andre Akkari, and Maria Konnikova busted their stacks before the close of day.
GutshotMagazine.com is following the progress of the EPT national tournament, and you can keep watching this space for an update on Day 2, as play boils down to the pay-outs stage soon.
