Negreanu, Ivey, And Brunson Couldn’t Work Their Magic

The first episode of the popular poker show High Stakes Poker made a debut earlier this week, and as Poker Hall of Famer and PokerGO Vice President Mori Eskandani rightly pointed out, it was the ‘best ever.’ The episode is now available on the PokerGO app and features what can be rightly described as a poker fan’s dream table. Poker legends including Tom Dwan, Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, and Patrik Antonius were seen battling it out at the tables.

Other players included High Stakes Poker newcomer and casino streamer Kim Hultman, 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion, Koray Aldemir, along with James Bord on the table. It was a $100,000 minimum buy-in $200/$400 No-Limit Hold’em (NLH) cash game.

Dwan, who is usually seen enjoying a good run on the show, had a hard time in the first episode of season 9. He played a big pot early in the day, but the result wasn’t as expected. Brunson raised to $1,200 with  {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}, and Bord called with{q-Spades}{q-Hearts}. Dwan, who was seated on the button, raised $5,500 with  {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. Brunson decided to fold, and Bord four-bet to $25,000.

Dwan jammed all in for $97,000. His rival snap-called with just a few thousand chips left in hand. Both players ran the board twice. The first board came  {2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and the second one opened  {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Both the boards favoured Bord and he shipped the pot. Dawn had no other option but to rebuy.

In one of the most interesting hands of the night, the newest WSOP champion Aldemir raised $1,200 with {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and Antonius three-bet $4,000 from small blind with {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. Antonius bet $6,000 and his rival called. When a  {9-Diamonds} hit the turn, both players checked. But the river brought  {a-Hearts} which was troublesome for Aldemir. Antonius over-bet $30,000, and the WSOP 2021 winner couldn’t find a fold. Antonius grabbed the $80,000 pot. Poker G.O.A.T Ivey played passively throughout, folding most hands. Negreanu and Brunson were both active during the game, however, none of them managed win big pots.
