Neeraj Kumar takes down Mega Stack on Spartan

The Spartan Poker is one of India’s top poker companies and they offer several tournaments daily, including a featured tournament which attracts some of the best players from around the country each night. Yesterday, being a Tuesday, was the Mega Stack INR 12 Lakh GTD tournament, and this kicked off at 7:30pm.

The tournament attracted a total of 391 entries out of which the top 31 were paid out a minimum cash prize of INR 10,560. From these, there were three players who ended with 6-figure cashes and many recent SSS winners who also finished in the money, including SSS Leaderboard winner ‘Narammasala’ who finished 9th for INR 25,950.

The INR 3,300 tournament proved to be a long grind, eventually coming to an end at 1:52am this morning, and Neeraj Kumar aka ‘Jannat52’ taking down the title. Kumar has been a frequent winner over the months, especially on PokerBaazi, where he plays under the name ‘SelfClaimedPro’.

Of late, Kumar has been among the prizes on Spartan too, shipping SSS Event #23 just a few days back. In last night’s tournament, he beat ‘bojenifuri’ in heads-up and was rewarded with a pay-check of INR 2,53,800, which became his first major victory on Spartan in a while.

bojenifuri also had a good game, taking away a decent runner-up prize of INR 1,70,880. The tournament ended when the blinds were at 32,500/65,000 ante 6,500 in Level #58, with Kumar holding a chip lead of over 6:1 coming into the final hand which was yet another pre-flop all-in situation.

bojenifuri was under the pressure of the high blinds and a diminishing chip stack, which led him to shoving all-in with 3c Jh. Kumar obliged with Js Ah and all the tournament chips were out in the middle as the board ran out 8s 9c 2c 4s 9d. Both players hit a pair of Nines of the board and Kumar was declared winner with a higher kicker – Ace.

The Spartan Poker’s RNG (random number generator) has been kind to me in particular, especially in recent times. I hope the good run continues here,” Kumar told Gutshot after this win. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for more updates on Spartan’s daily featured tournaments.
