The Spartan Super Series (SSS) is one of the most prestigious online poker tournament series in India, and yesterday saw a couple of big tournaments being contested on The Spartan Poker. After Vidwath Shetty shipped The Flash tournament, focus shifted towards the mega SSS Super High Roller.
The tournament had an extremely steep buy-in of INR 55,000 and only the best in the business would register to this tournament, so you can imagine what level of competition there would have been. Despite the high buy-in, the tournament guarantee of INR 40 lakh was crushed, with a new prize pool of INR 55 lakh being created (111 entries).
It was Event #20 of the ongoing SSS series and what began at 9:30pm last night, ended much after the sunrise earlier today. The final hand of the tournament was played at 7:02am and at the end of this highlight tournament, it was none other than Sahil Agarwal aka ‘Nasheyy’ who emerged victorious, taking home a massive amount of INR 15,81,750 for first place.
The top 12 players were paid out a minimum of INR 1,24,875 and Agarwal would’ve been the happiest of these players. Clearly, losing out on some sleep wouldn’t have mattered too much to him, having made a huge addition to his poker bankroll after beating ‘kutts’ in heads-up. This player was also awarded a handsome prize of INR 10,26,750.
The tournament came to an end when the blinds were at 9,000/18,000 – 1,800 in Level #44. Agarwal had a lead of over 2:1 and kutts went all-in pre-flop with Js Ac. Agarwal made the call with Qd As and the board opened 4d Qs 7c Td 8d, which gave the player a pair of Queens. This was enough for him to take down the pot and the massive prize for first-place!
‘omgrachelgreen’ finished 5th in this tournament for a prize in excess of INR 4 lakh, which has helped him maintain his spot on the top of the SSS Leaderboard. Day 4 updated Leaderboard:
