‘M@neyM@ker’ claims SSS Event #2 title on Spartan

Yesterday would’ve been a happy day for online poker players in the country as it marked the start of yet another edition of the Spartan Super Series (SSS). Hosted on The Spartan Poker every once in a while, the series always has the best to offer and this time too, they have returned with an INR 4+ crore GTD prize pool and INR 10 lakh to be won on the SSS Leaderboard.

SSS Event #2 INR 2.5 Lakh GTD kicked off yesterday afternoon and by the end of the late registration period, we saw a total of 498 entries registering to the INR 550 buy-in tournament. As the tournament went on, the prize pool was shared among the top 20 players with a minimum cash prize of INR 3,350.

All the players would’ve been aiming for the top spot to gain vital points to the SSS Leaderboard. However, only one can come out on top and yesterday, it was ‘M@neyM@ker’ who shipped the tournament, taking away the top prize of INR 60,000. The player wished to stay anonymous, but he did share his experience with Gutshot.

Talking about his introduction to poker and his future plans, he said, “I started playing Poker around 3 years back. My poker journey started with a home game, being introduced to the game by one of my dear friends. From here, I will continue with the online grind for a while and build my game. Still early days for me and lots of improvement is needed.”

Speaking about the tournament itself, he said, “I had a good stack for most part of the tournament and started picking up spots once we came ITM. I ran good on the Final Table and could take it down. God has been kind.” He beat ‘Pokerface63’ in heads-up, who walked away with the second-place prize of INR 40,750.

The tournament came to an end in Level #38, with the blinds at 17,500/35,000 – 3,500. The two players were neck-to-neck in chips before the final hand, where Pokerface63 was leading on the turn with two pairs – Nines and Eights. He was set to win the hand until a Jack opened on the river and completed a straight for M@neyM@ker, giving him the pot and the title.
