Minh Le continues lead at APL Vietnam Main Event

The Asia Poker League (APL) Vietnam Main Event, the main attraction of the APL Road Series Vol. 3, happening in Ho Chi Minh City, has settled down to last 8 players on the final table. The Main Event of VND 8 Billion GTD (~INR 2.42 Crores) saw four starting flights and gathered a total of 587 entries (457 players and 130 re-entries) and the guarantee was crushed sooner than later.

Emerging from Day 2 of the Main Event as the chip leader, Vietnam’s Minh Le is still in the lead with 3,450,000 chips in the bag after Day 3. His largest live score of $19,667 at last year’s Macau Poker Cup seems to take a backseat with this kind of chip lead. Minh Le also had a good run at last month’s APT Vietnam Main Event, finishing eighth.

The second in chip lead is Cao Ngoc Anh with 3,03,000 chips in the bag. There were two Indians in the mix too, Amanpreet Singh and Abhishek Paul. Singh got eliminated quite early in the run, on Day 1 of the Main Event, while Paul held the fort for his country on Day 2 too.

Unfortunately, his luck ran out on Day 3 and he finished 27^th . Cao Ngoc Anh eliminated Paul with his pocket tens beating AJs, after the board threw blanks. Paul earned VND 53,470,000 (~INR 1.61 Lakhs) for his deep run.

Third in chip lead is Vietnam’s well-known poker player Quang Nguyen with 2,145,000. He has a long list of achievements, the latest one being the APT Vietnam Main Event runners-up title just last month.
