Mindful Mondays: Here’s how Poker players can get fit at home edition


Hello poker players! We are back with our ‘Mindful Mondays Series.’ This time our fitness enthusiast Rahul Tarfe suggests a few basic exercises that players can opt for in order to lead a healthy life.

First of all, why did we choose Rahul Tarfe?

He is a professional bodybuilder and influencer based in Mumbai and is also a certified personal fitness trainer from the American College of Sports and Medicine (ASCM). His Instagram account has more than 14K followers where he updates his followers about fitness, diet, and tips for a healthier lifestyle.

Rahul starts by telling us about how players need to focus on a goal before they begin shedding or putting on kilos. He says, “Players can start by doing functional training and weight training at home. If you compare working out at home to working out at the gym, I would suggest the latter as players would get more variations.”

Bodyweight exercises for players to do at home:

Burpees, Jumping Jacks, Planks, Crunches, leg raises, step board exercises, mountain climbers, etc.

To maintain physical and mental health

  • Players must have a proper sleep cycle
  • Right nutrition intake at the right time is very crucial for players
  • Lastly, opting for yoga or meditation is one of the perfect solutions to boost concentration

Players who wish to join the gym

This weight training schedule can be opted by any poker player who wishes to stay fit:

  • Day 1 – Monday: upper body circuit
  • Day 2 – Tuesday: lower body
  • Day 3 – Wednesday: cardio
  • Day 4 – Thursday: upper body circuit
  • Day 5 – Friday: lower body
  • Day 6 – Saturday: cardio
  • Day 7 – Sunday: rest
