Mikita Badziakouski wins EPT Barcelona €100K SHR

If you are a follower of international poker players and poker tournaments, you will be getting used to hearing the name Mikita Badziakouski by now, a high-stakes player who has been making a habit of winning High Rollers and Super High Rollers all across the world.

He is #1 on Belarus’ all-time poker earnings list by a long way, now with $18.5 million in live poker earnings and around a 6x lead over the next best from his country. He is always a favourite in high-stakes tournaments, having won the Triton Montenegro Main Event in May for $2.5 million and then completing a historic double by shipping the Triton Jeju Main Event as well, for a career-best $5.2 million.

Already the best in his country, Badziakouski is slowly becoming one of the best in the world as well, having hit the headlines once again for his latest win at Casino Barcelona, where he shipped the €100K SHR as a part of the ongoing European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona tournament series.

He took home the massive first-place prize of €1,650,300 ($1,912,903). This may be a life-changing prize for most people across the world, but it’s just another day in the office for Badziakouski, winning his fifth 7-figure live cash. At the end of Day 2 yesterday, he was trailing Matthias Eibinger in the chip lead, but did well to overtake him and take down the title.

It has been a brilliant 2018 for the Belarussian so far, having racked up his third best career score (and third best of 2018 as well). He started the year outside the top 100 in the all-time list, was #28 before this victory, and will now rise to #22 after having added almost $2 million to his tally.

“It feels great. I’m running pretty hot lately. Just being lucky – that’s it! It was the usual High Roller field, and the same structure. Only this time we had a really long bubble; we were nine-handed for three or something hours. Then it finished really fast,” said a pretty humble Badziakouski after shipping the tournament.

Final pay-outs:

  1. Mikita Badziakouski – €1,650,300 (~INR 13.51 crore)
  2. Ahadpur Khangah – €1,191,900
  3. Matthias Eibinger – €759,680
  4. Timothy Adams – €576,300
  5. Benjamin Pollak – €445,300
  6. Rui Neves Ferreira – €340,550
  7. Jean Ferreira – €275,050
