Matthias Eibinger leads 4 in EPT Prague Super High Roller

PokerStars LIVE is hosting the prestigious 2018 European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague festival at the Casino Atrium in Prague, Czech Republic. The series began on 7th December and will conclude on 18th. The 12-day affair has seen a lot of action, including the €10,300 NLHE which was won by Akin Tuna, and much more adrenaline is expected to rush in the upcoming events.

The EPT €50,000 Super High Roller saw its Day 2 in the books yesterday. The field of 14 who entered the day to play the biggest buy-in tournament along with the fresh 12 late entries. The day saw its field whittle down to just 4. Among them, Austrian Matthias Eibinger (pictured above) has established himself as the overall chip leader, and that too by a huge margin. He bagged a total of 5,455,000 chips at the end of the day, making his stack 55% of the total chips in play. He has over 100 big blinds and will start the final day extremely comfortably.

Eibinger, who just recently shipped the $52,000 NLHE High Roller at the Fall Madness in Las Vegas, has upwards of $4 million in recorded live earnings. He is ranked second in Austria’s All Time Money List. The high-stakes pro’s biggest live win was at the 2018 World Poker Tour (WPT) Tournament of Champions Festival, where he finished 2nd in the $100K High Roller for a ginormous $1,006,060. If he ships this one though, he will get another huge pay-check of €653,000, out of a €1,920,600 prize pool, a significant addition to his bankroll.

The other three players to reach top 4 were Seminole Championship ME winner Pavel Plesuv (1,610,000 chips), the chip leader entering the day Andras Nemeth (pictured above) (1,445,000 chips) and China’s Liang Xu (1,410,000 chips). Their chip towers almost look the same, ensuring tough action today.

Nemeth spent most of the day in the lead, but Eibinger put an end to his hopes for a wire-to-wire performance in the final level of the night. Eibinger limp-rased to 560,000 in the decisive hand after Nemeth made it to 140,000. Nemeth called and called a flop bet and a turn all-in with just Ace-jack high. Eibinger had pocket Tens and doubled up instantly with a huge lead.

All the players will receive a minimum pay-out of €220,870 but will be eyeing for the 1st place cash prize, looking to tackle down the goliath Eibinger with his massive stack. Among the players who registered on the day were France’s 2nd in All Time Money List Benjamin Pollak and the celebrity pro Patrik Antonius, fresh from his maiden trip to India.

Only the top 6 would be paid, of which Charlie Carrel got his pay first, followed by Luc Greenwood at 5th. The last four remaining players will return today at 12:30 pm local time, with the blinds at 25,000/50,000/50,000 (big blind ante). The last three players are sitting with under 35 big blinds, so the game is expected to swiftly progress.

Final 4 Chip Counts –

  1. Matthias Eibinger – 5,455,000
  2. Pavel Plesuv – 1,600,000
  3. Andras Nemeth – 1,445,000
  4. Liang Xu – 1,400,000
