Matan Bakrat Wins MILLIONS Grand Final Warm Up Event

The partypoker Live MILLIONS Grand Final at Casino Barcelona has been on since 7th April and new winners are being declared every day. After a series of two-day Super High Roller events, the Grand Final’s warm-up event has finally come to an end, with Canada’s Matan Bakrat winning the title and €355,000 in cash.

Now if you want to do a search on who Matan Bakrat is, you may not find much. Check out his profile on the Hendon Mob database and you will see that he has no previous poker titles and has never even cashed out in a live poker tournament before this. His only entry shows a €355,000 win for shipping a tournament in Barcelona!

This couldn’t have been as easy win for the 25-year old IT student, as he had to beat a field of 749 entries to get his hand on the title. The €2,700 entry tournament saw the guarantee of €1 million being taken up to €1,816,325. The final day began with 20 survivors and while players kept getting eliminated, Bakrat played strong and kept running deeper into the tournament.

He ultimately reached heads up against Poland’s Bartlomiej Machon, a pro with over $2 million in live cashes. They two quickly agreed on a heads-up deal which ensured that Bakrat would get €315,000 and Machon would get €265,000, plus €40,000 to the winner. In what became the final hand, Machon went all-in with A-Q, while Bakrat’s A-10 hit a full house on the river, which gave him his first Texas Holdem Poker title!
