The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is one of the bigger brands when it comes to live poker tournaments and series across various locations in Asia. They’ve already completed a few stops earlier this year and their ongoing series is the APT Philippines Championships II – their second stop in Philippines of the year.
The series is scheduled between 13-24 September and there are a few highlight tournaments at this stop at Resorts World Manila, including the Main Event which is currently underway. Another big tournament was the PHP 500k CoinPoker Super High Rollers which recently concluded.
The high buy-in of PHP 500k (~INR 6.72 lakh) meant that only 10 entries registered to the tournament, but it was well fought out among these players. Only two were to be paid out and the player to take away top honours in this event was none other than Filipino pro Lester Edoc, continuing a great year in live poker so far.
The player won the APL Road Series Vol.1 Philippines Main Event in March this year and followed it up with winning the APT Philippines Main Event in April. In the same series, he finished second to Iori Yogo in the Championships Event. Interestingly, he is now also highly stacked in the current Main Event, which has moved on to Day 2.
In the CoinPoker Super High Rollers, he struck a deal with Marc Rivera in heads-up and since he was ahead in chips, he was declared the winner. He added PHP 2,745,700 (~INR 36.93 lakh) to bring up the second largest live cash of his career while Rivera won PHP 2,100,000 for finishing second. This became Edoc’s first CoinPoker Super High Rollers title. Rivera on the other hand, is a high stakes pro who recently won the APPT National in Manila last month.
