Vincent Kwun Ngai Li, also known as just Kwun Li, is a Hong Kong poker player that has been playing his live poker across Asia and sometimes in the USA. He recently shipped the 2018 Wynn Summer Classic poker tournament, to take home the biggest live win of his career – $280,594.
The $1,100 buy-in event saw a record-breaking field of 2,427 entries, over three days of starting flights. The tournament had an advertised $1 million guaranteed prize pool, but this massive field crushed the guarantee, creating a new prize pool of $2,401,274. The top 251 players were paid out a minimum cash of $2,401.
This was the largest tournament ever to take place at the Wynn Las Vegas, with so many players taking time off from the 2018 WSOP to play here, and the final two players, Kwun Li and Australia’s Dominic Coombe, chopping a deal at heads-up that saw Li being declared the official champion.
Li’s career live poker winnings have now inched towards the $500k mark, while it also turned out to be Coombe’s biggest career win, with only around $54k in live cashes prior to finishing second here. Coombe cashed out in the Colossus event at the WSOP and this tournament may give him some confidence to play a few more tournaments at the World Series this year.
