Kunal Patni Says THIS About Adda52’s Colossus 2022

Poker players in India have made their way to Goa where the highly awaited Colossus August 2022 High Roller Series will take place. The live poker series by Adda52 is all set to run from 2nd to 7th August and promises an exciting time. The first edition of this high roller series was hosted back in 2018 and had its second edition in 2019 (both live). However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the plans to host this event live were put on hold.

Adda52 instead of an online tournament is now hosting Colossus in a live poker format. The live poker event is being hosted aboard the luxurious Deltin Royale casino in Goa. We had a little chat with banker turned pro and Adda52 Game ambassador, Kunal Patni for some insights into the series.

Adda52 Colossus is making a return post a pandemic break. Your thoughts on the latest edition of Colossus?

The Colossus has always been an exciting series for poker players in India. Most people have been looking forward to playing live poker over the last couple of years due to the pandemic. There was a great turn out of people in other live events like the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) 2022 held in April. Colossus Aug 2022 is the next live series after a three-month gap, and I’m positive that people are ready to play the Colossus.

One aspect of this high roller series which you feel attracts players to participate?

One aspect that attracts people to high roller events is the fact that the fields are smaller. This results in lower variance and there is also the lure of big prize pools because of the high buy-ins. All this gives players the option to beat a smaller player field and get a large amount of money, which is probably the biggest selling point for a high roller series.

What’s different in the latest edition of Colossus?

The different thing about Adda52’s Colossus this year is that it’s a focused series. You have the 50K Warm Up Bounty, the 2 Lakh High Roller, and 1 Lakh Main Event. People can travel for 4-5 days, come to Goa, enjoy and go back. It’s a short and sweet series. Having said that, the structures for all three events are fantastic with a lot of playability so it doesn’t become a shove fest. You will be able to see a lot of good poker in the series.

One thing players can look forward to from this high roller series at Deltin Royale?

Adda52 and Deltin are known to be great hosts. People who have travelled to earlier editions of DPT have always had nice things to say about the treatment of players, the food, the venue, the production etc.  Everything is top-notch and that is what people should expect from this series. Like I mentioned before, the deep structure of the tournaments will allow us to see some good poker on the felts and from what I’ve heard the turnout of the series is expected to be excellent.

You were on the final table when Aditya Agarwal shipped the Main Event in 2019. Any memory you would like to share from that FT?

Colossus has been a great series for me overall in the last couple of editions. I made over three final tables where I managed to finish in 2nd, 4th, and 7th place. So, it’s about time that I take the monkey out of my back and win one. It was such a privilege to play against Aditya Agarwal in the 2019 Colossus Main Event FT as he is well-known as the G.O.A.T of Indian poker. We had Jasven (Saigal) on the final table and a couple of known players, and it was a lot of fun playing with these people.

I made a hero call against him, which in hindsight, I should have probably folded as I would’ve had a slightly better run than finishing in 4th place. But that is how the game goes.

The third edition of Adda52’s Colossus begins today, and by what Patni has told us, players can expect some fireworks and a boatload of pure poker action on the felts.
