Kalyan Chakravarthy Wins Adda52’s Big Millions

We all know that poker is slowly on the rise in India and we often see new formats and new tournament structures being introduced. Similarly, Adda52 recently hosted their first ever Big Millions tournament, which saw the entire tournament taking place online and the final table being contested at the Deltin Royale poker room in Goa.

The tournament began on 4th March 2018 and it turned out to be the largest single-event in Adda52 history, with a total of 1,175 entries being record (750 unique entries and 425 re-entries) by the time the late registration period ended. The INR 11,000 buy-in saw a massive prizepool of INR 1,17,50,000 being created, with the top 129 players making it to the money.

Kalyan Chakravarthy, who recently made headlines in Macau for his 2nd place finish in the Doupai Cup for HKD 790,000 (~INR 64.9 lakhs), shipped this Big Millions event for INR 28.5 lakhs. After hours of play at the Deltin Royale, he came out on top, beating Shashwat ‘shash26’ Agarwal in heads up. Along with the top prize, Kalyan also wins a chance to have dinner with Bollywood actress and Adda52 celebrity pro Minissha Lamba!

Chakravarthy held the lead moving into heads up, with a stack of 11 million compared to Agarwal’s 4.7 million. The long battle finally came to an end when Agarwal went all-in with A-5 and Chakravarthy called with Q-8. The table opened 3-10-Q-2-A and Chakravarthy was handed over the trophy for his Q-pair. This turned out to be the second highest live cash of his career!
