IOPC Day 12: Pranay Chawla, Rahul Thakur Claim Titles!

Yesterday was Day 12 of the record-breaking poker tournament series – the 2020 India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) on Spartan Poker. Some of the best poker players from across the country are also taking part in this series, as guaranteed prizes of INR 25 Crore are up for grabs across the 18 days of this event! The biggest attraction of the day was the IOPC Millionaire Main Event Day 1A. And here is a quick recap of IOPC Day 12…

IOPC #77 INR 4L GTD

If someone had a good Monday then it has to be the anonymous regular grinder ‘FunkeyFox’ who is not only crushing each day of IOPC but yesterday he picked up two back-to-back titles! The first event of the day began with 699 entries running to grab the 77th title. The tourney recorded a prize pool of INR 3.49 Lakhs which was shared among the top 63 players. ‘FunkeyFox’ was the official winner and ‘Luckywinner’ settled in the second place.

IOPC #78 INR 6L GTD

The second event of the day pulled in 336 runners after each one chipped in INR 1,650 buy-in. A slice of the prize pool was shared among the top 31 places who locked at least INR 5.2K. The champion of event 77, ‘FunkeyFox’ rode past the field and emerged triumphant after a three-way deal that saw ‘DONKAKING’ ending up in the runner-up position.

IOPC #79 Monster Stack INR 5L GTD

Online regular player Rahul Thakur aka ‘Thakur615’ knocked out poker pro and IOPC #53 Ultron champ Kunal Patni aka ‘TiltAtma’ in heads-up play, dominating the latter with Flush over Ace-high card. A total of 675 entries crowded the field accumulating a prize pool of INR 5.40 Lakhs. Thakur picked up the top prize and the prestigious title while Patni earned the runner-up payout.

IOPC #80 ReCharge INR 20L GTD

The signature Monday tourney of Spartan Poker clocked in a strong field of 1,103 entries. Producing a guarantee crushing prize pool of INR 22.06 Lakhs which was shared among the top 111 players. Powering through the field was ‘ro3bet’ who claimed his first-ever IOPC title after defeating Arjunn Agrawal aka ‘SirMucksAlot’ in heads-up with 9944.

IOPC #81 INR 7L GTD

Well-known circuit grinder Pranay Chawla aka ‘kabira speaking’ shipped INR 7L GTD IOPC #81 event on Spartan Poker. The INR 3,300 buy-in event registered 229 entries and the final prize pool was well-received by INR 6.1K. Chawla captured the top prize after striking a heads-up deal with ‘mmundhara1. The latter banked the second place payout for settling in the second place.

IOPC #82 Destiny – IOPC Edition INR 10L GTD

The final event of the day drew a field 501 entries, each one of whom hoping to grab the first place cash prize. The tourney ended with a heads-up deal that saw Devvrat Arya aka ‘deranzzdd’ clinching to the first place prize money after beating ‘HerMess’ in heads-up. A minimum cash of INR 6,012 was well-distributed among the top 40 players.

IOPC Main Event – The Crown – Day 1A

Promising a whopping INR 3 Crore GTD in the Main Event along with the dazzling crown, one of eight starting flights kicked off yesterday. Day 1A garnered a field of 500+ entries accumulating a prize pool of INR 51.50 Lakhs. At the end of the day, coming out on top was ‘HeroCaller’ who gathered the largest stack of 266,191 entries followed by circuit regular Sanat Mehrotra aka ‘avneed’ with 255,416 chips. Only 61 survivors from Day 1A grabbed a seat to Day 2, scheduled on 26 July at 10 pm.
