IOPC Day 12: Ankit Wadhawan Strikes Gold, Ships Monday Prime For 4.72 Lakh 


Even as Day 12 of India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) January 2022 rolled in, the excitement on the virtual felts did not lose steam. Poker players were just as enthusiastic to grind across high-value tournaments and add IOPC titles to their belts. Last night saw a lot of poker action with most of the tournaments ending in a deal. The winners’ list was a mix of pros and underdogs with well-known players like FTS 3.0 Main Event (ME) winner, Ankit Wadhawan being one among them. Let’s look at last night’s results.

IOPC #71 – ₹3.5 Lakh GTD

This event kick-started Day 12 and welcomed a total of 753 entries. The ₹550 buy-in tournament also surpassed its advertised guarantee of ₹3.5 Lakh. The final prize pool recorded was ₹3,76,500. While many tried their best to make the money, only the top 31 players were paid. The min-cash of the tournament stood at ₹3,313. The tournament ended with Pratik Manjrekar aka ‘GorillaGlue’ clinching the top spot for a pay cheque of ₹79,630. In the runner-up position was player Parag Shah aka ‘Persie’ who went home with ₹53,614 in his pockets.

Next up was the IOPC #72 event which had an advertised guarantee of ₹7 Lakh. The tournament had a total of 351 entries and a buy-in of ₹2,200. The event surpassed its initial guarantee and the final prize pool was ₹7,02,000. The top 31 places were paid, and the min-cash stood at ₹6,177. The tournament was brought to a close after players Vinay Rajpal aka ‘BeepBeepImaJeep’ and Arman Khan aka ‘ThandaBloke’ made a deal. Rajpal took home ₹1,30,389 in prize money while Khan was the runner-up for ₹1,18,049.

IOPC #73 – PKO ₹5 Lakh GTD

This IOPC event was a progressive knockout tournament (PKO) and had a guarantee of ₹5 Lakh. A total of 861 entries participated in this ₹990 buy-in event. The final prize pool stood at ₹7,74,900 which surpassed its original guarantee. Players who made it to the top 71 places finished in the money. The min-cash given was ₹2,617. Player Kunal Yadav aka ‘kunaly005’ shipped the tournament for ₹1,04,824. The runner-up was mystery player ‘Elbulli’ who walked away with ₹89,093 in prize money.

The IOPC Monday Prime had the biggest guarantee of the day and welcomed a total of 749 entries. The ₹4,400 buy-in tournament was a massive success and generated a final prize pool worth ₹29,96,000. In the end, the top 71 players finished in the money and the min-cash given was ₹11,384. In the end, a deal was struck and FTS 3.0 ME winner Ankit Wadhawan aka ‘Shippament’ grabbed the title spot and earned ₹4,72,599 in prize money. The runner-up was Deepankur Gupta aka ‘AngryPitbull’ who went home with ₹4,69,942 in winnings.

The IOPC Monday Spotlight drew in a total of 727 entries and had a buy-in worth ₹2,750. The tournament surpassed its original guarantee, and a final prize pool of ₹18,17,500 was generated. The top 63 players made the money. The min-cash of the event was ₹7,906. Online reg Ritwik Khanna aka ‘Fisherman1997’ took home the title spot and a prize money worth ₹2,94,842. Aayush Arya aka ‘Eureka226’ was the runner-up for ₹2,78,579.

The day ended with the IOPC All Rounder tournament which had a buy-in of ₹2,200 and attracted a total of 647 entries. The initial guarantee of the tournament was surpassed, and the final prize pool was ₹12,94,000. The top 55 players finished in the money, and the min-cash paid was ₹6,340. Popular player Neel Joshi aka ‘Worm33’ shipped the tournament and had a payday of ₹2,51,036. Online reg Abhijeet Kumar aka ‘TheSupremeOne’ was the runner-up who took home ₹1,59,162 in prize money.
