‘InvestmentBanker’ wins Big Daddy Tournament on Spartan

Indian poker players often look forward to playing online on weekends and holidays, when the maximum guaranteed contests take place. Similar on The Spartan Poker, a number of high guarantee contests take place each Sunday, including the ‘Big Daddy’ tournament that gives the winner a free package trip to Goa, in addition to his prize money.

Yesterday was another Big Daddy tournament on Spartan that had a guaranteed prize pool on INR 5 lakh and saw a total of 852 registered entries. The tournament began at 4pm IST yesterday and had wrapped up less than 6 hours later, with the top 71 places being paid out a minimum cash of INR 1,900 each.

Eventually, it was ‘InvestmentBanker’ who shipped the tournament and took home a cash prize of INR 96,500 for first place. The tournament ended in Level #44, when the blinds were running 40,000/80,000-8,000, and he beat ‘maynardJK’ in heads-up, who also walked away with a decent prize of INR 60,800 for second place.

The winner was unavailable to comment on this victory, but he will surely be a happy man. The Spartan Poker will award him a free package trip worth INR 30k, to play poker at the Big Daddy Casino in Goa. Maybe he could use that there and increase his bankroll even further.

In the final hand, InvestmentBanker was slightly ahead in the chip count, and the betting started pre-flop and continued on the flop, before both players went all-in on the turn. maynardJK held Q-K while his opponent held pocket Aces. And 8-6-K flop landed maynardJK a K-pair, while the 5 and 7 on the turn and river didn’t help him improve, giving InvestmentBanker the pot and the tournament as well.
