In conversation with latest SSS Millionaire champ Aditya Sushant!

Pouncing from one title to another, this man needs no introduction, our very own poker pro to bring home India’s first-ever World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet added yet another title to his illustrious poker CV. Chennai-based Aditya Sushant took down the SSS Millionaire INR 1 Crore GTD tournament on Spartan Poker this Sunday!

It was over a decade ago that Sushant found out about poker and in no time, he grabbed back-to-back titles in the 2010 India Poker Championship (IPC) in Goa, announcing himself as a serious poker player. Now an established figure in the Indian poker circuit, Sushant has already cashed in 23 WSOP tournaments so far. Recently however, the focus has been online and he’s been killing it there!

Our latest champion banked a share from the massive INR 1.07 Crore prize pool! So, Gutshot caught up with the winner about his fantastic Sunday run on Spartan Poker“I have played this tournament since the very first one ever. I had only final tabled it once before this. I suppose breakeven is a good thing,” he said to us regarding becoming a Spartan Millionaire for the first time ever!

The one-day SSS The Millionaire INR 1 Crore GTD attracted a massive field of 1,076 entries out of which only the top 111 players could earn a paycheck this latest Sunday. After 9+ hours of grinding, Sushant aka ‘SuperuSer’ topped the field and clinched his first-ever Millionaire title after outlasting Sathish Ananth aka ‘Jaqkten’ in heads-up.

It was just another day in the office for Sushi, having reached hundreds of Final Tables online in the past. “The final table was a pretty straight forward one. Although nothing that I can particularly remember but Rajat Sharma and Pranay Chawla were clearly the two toughest competitors on the FT,” he added regarding major turning points in the final stages.

We also him about the various offerings Spartan Poker has for users and how he rates them as a poker company. He answered saying, “For a long time, I haven’t been playing cash games, so no comments on that. But for tournaments, Spartan is clearly doing a great job. That goes without saying.”

How is the lockdown serving you? Has it affected your grind or any other daily routines?

“Out of choice, I was not playing at all for a while. I kept myself occupied with other stuffs. It was only last month that I started playing more once again. I wouldn’t say lockdown has affected my routines as such, but it is getting increasingly harder to remain so restricted. Unfortunately, have no choice but to resign to this fate for the near future.

What are your future plans in live poker? By when do you see yourself chancing a trip to play poker overseas again?

“Frankly, I’m not even interested in travelling outside for live tournaments. I guess, Goa would be as far as I go and even that is months away. So, no point thinking about it right now.

How does a pro like you invest such big wins?

“I will be investing a part of my Millionaire winnings, and the rest goes right back into the poker bankroll.”
