Tom Dwan was born in Edison, New Jersey in the year 1986. Dwan started playing poker online when he was just 17 years old on Paradise Poker. He was an English Major student for one year at Boston University before quitting his education poker.His first deposit on the platform was $50, which he received as a 17th birthday gift from his father. He soon started making profits from his investment and eventually moved up in stakes. 

Dwan’s first-ever significant live tournament cash came in 2005, where he finished 12th place for £7,000 at the £3,000 European Poker Tour Main Event in London. He is most famously known by his username ‘durrrr.’
