History made as ‘Mandovi’ brings India its 4th Gold Bracelet!

Indian viewers have woken up to some phenomenal news! It is the moment we all have been eagerly waiting for and this day has been inked in the history books as India grabs its 4th gold bracelet. Our very special, poker pro and star of the country, ‘Mandovi’ clinched the elusive gold piece at the highly prestigious 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Online. The champion followed the steps of Aditya Sushant, Nikita Luther and Abhinav Iyer.

The WSOP Online Event #64: $840 Turbo Bounty No Limit Hold’em attracted a strong field of 2,207 entries, ponying up $1.70 million in prize pool. Money reached the top 314 players who sealed at least $905 min-cash. According to his Hendon Mob, the winner has over $377,000 in lifetime winnings along with eight WSOP cashes. His career best remains $173,015 for 51st finish in the 2019 WSOP Main Event. ‘Mandovi’ captured the life-altering amount after a six-hour long session, defeating Russia’s Konstantin Maslak heads-up for a whopping $234,433 (1.75 Crore) payday!

In the year 2019, Iyer who took down Event #84: The Closer – $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em, becoming the third Indian player after Sushant and Luther. Iyer broke Paawan Bansal’s 2018 record of $378,765 (~INR 2.59 Crore) by collecting $565,346 (~INR 3.87 Crore) in top prize. Today, ‘Mandovi’ makes the country proud with 4 successful years for India in the World Series festival.

Several notable players to cash include India’s ‘thehulk’ (16th, $6,606), ‘BIGBADFISHY’ (75th, $1,650), ‘LeChiffreFTW’ (128th, $1,900), ‘inonhmeansfu’ (152nd, $900) and so on. International players taking home a slice from the enormous prize pool were Patrick ‘Muddington’ Kennedy (15th, $4,854), Paul Siddle (14th, $4,854) Jefferson Dosso (11th, $6,751) and others.

With the elimination of Gueorgui ‘CONAN14’ Gantchev in the 9th place, Dan ‘NeedLuck’ Borlan was leading seven players and ‘Mandovi’ remained with the shortest stack. Within a few minutes, the Indian player climbed up to the third position, eventually eliminating GGPoker Ambassador Felipe Ramos, Jon ‘JPC123’ Clark in 6th place, and the chip leader Borlan in 5th place. ‘Mandovi’ was in full form when he railed out Javier ‘Marco_damme’ Fernandez in the 3rd place, making way for heads-up play against Konstantin ‘makRUSgreaga’ Maslak.

Bracelet winner Maslak (17.29 million chips) shoved from the button and ‘Mandovi’ (37.87 million chips) called.

The flop came {3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Maslak stayed ahead. The turn {j-Diamonds} proved beneficial for ‘Mandovi’. The river {10-Diamonds} completed the board for the Indian player to emerge triumphant and bring home the coveted bracelet and $234,433 in total which includes $102,972 in bounties while Maslak walked out with $118,791 which includes $24,270 in bounties.
