One of the most prestigious poker tournament series taking place at the moment is the European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona stop, which is playing out its final day today. A couple of tournaments are yet to conclude at the Casino Barcelona, one being a €10,300 High Roller and another being the €5,300 Main Event.
Yesterday, we reported Portugal’s Pedro Marques leading the final 13 of the Main Event, and now, we’re here to give you an update on the tournament after the fifth official day of play. The new chip leader after Day 5 of the Main Event is China’s Haoxiang Wang, who has the lead with 16,200,000 in chips.
Wang was fifth in the chip lead at the end of Day 4 and chipped up early on the fifth day of play, to reach the lead. Marques on the other hand had a slight decrease in chips, now 5/6 on the final table. The players are now ready to return on Day 6 and play out for the top prize of €1,611,500 (~INR 13.3 crore), which will be a life-changing amount for any of these players.
With the top 296 players being paid out in the tournament, everyone who busted in the last couple of days has walked away with a profit. The current pay-out for 6th place is at €287,050, but everyone will only want that top prize. Wang has barely $2,000 in live cashes prior to this, so it will be a dream come true if he does ship this tournament.
