‘Gutshot1’ ships Sunday SuperStack on Spartan

Sundays are the best days for poker players in India, with plenty of high guarantee tournaments taking place on various poker platforms across the country. On The Spartan Poker, one such tournament is the Sunday SuperStack, which has a massive guarantee of INR 20 lakh and is played every Sunday at 7:30pm IST.

393 entries registered to the tournament and the top 40 players were paid out a minimum cash prize of INR 12,000. Quite a few regulars were a part of the final table, with ‘InvestmentBanker’ busting in 3rd for INR 2 lakh, ‘Soona Paana’ finishing in 6th and recent Millionaire winner Nikhil Ramesh finishing in 7th for INR 56,000.

The tournament was ultimately shipped by ‘Gutshot1’. His heads-up opponent was ‘Lag_gayee’, who had a diminishing stack and made the all-in call with Kh Jc against Gutshot1’s Ac 8s. The board of 3s 9d 5h 7h Td didn’t help either player and Gutshot1 won with high card Ace, taking home a massive pay-check of INR 5,30,000. Lag_gayee settled for the runners-up prize of INR 3,30,000.

Gutshot caught up with the winner of the tournament. He let us know how he felt about the win, while wishing to stay anonymous. “In 2015, I got to know about poker from a friend of mine who used to grind on reputed Indian poker websites. Seeing him play, I thought of giving it a try after I got to know Poker is legal in India. I deposited Rs.100 into my poker account and of course, I won and converted to Rs.1,000 in no time. After that, I have never looked back and have given my time to learn and play poker daily,” he said about his introduction to poker.

Commenting on the tournament itself, he said, “The tourney was a roller-coaster ride for me. I could not build a decent stack till late registration was over. Somehow, I managed to go through to the final table where a lot of regular regs were there. There was this one hand where I had Pocket aces which went 3-way all-in and it gave me the chip lead. From there, I didn’t look back and completely dominated the final table. I would like to keep learning and grind regularly online. I am yet to try Live Poker. Hopefully, in the coming days, I would be doing that.”
