The PokerStars 2022 European Poker Tour (EPT) finally found its Main Event (ME) winner in Grzegorz Glowny. Held at the King’s Casino at the Hilton Hotel in Prague, the Main Event ended with Glowny taking home the lion’s share of the €5,771,500 prize pool.
The Polish player defeated Andrea Cortellazzi in the final table heads-up and took home the maiden EPT title along with a pay cheque of €692,252. The tournament had 1,190 entries from which Glowny emerged victorious. All the top four finishers in the tournament scored their career-best prizes and agreed to an ICM deal in the second attempt after the first negotiations didn’t work out.
Incredibly, it was Glowny who had refused the deal and became short-stacked but made a spectacular comeback towards the end. Glowny had first gained entry into the tournament via a €530 satellite and eventually went on to ship the tournament. He also became the fifth EPT Main Event champion from Poland.

The other two players that had agreed to an ICM deal were Symeon Alexandridis and Gab Yong Kim. While Kim was the one to lock up a bigger chunk of the two, he was also the first to depart from the table. He scored €622,610 while Alexandridis walked away with €497,278. Former EPT champions Dimitar Danchev and Hossein Ensan exited the race on Day 5 and missed out on their chance to become the third two-time champions of the live series.

Talking about his win, Glowny said, “Absolutely not. It’s too much. I am too tired to think otherwise. It’s obviously a massive win.” The player was overwhelmed and ecstatic to be the new EPT ME champion.
When asked about the game, he said, “I ran with ace jack into ace king. I don’t know if this was even a decent move or not and I got lucky. And after that, my confidence was back. So, yeah, for the most part, I think I was able to be focused.”
