Gaurav Sood claims Spartan’s Mega Stack title

While live poker tournaments across India are few and far spread out throughout the year, an online poker tournament is something that you can find throughout the year, every week, and every day of the week too. The major companies host featured tournaments daily and every day, different tournaments take place with different formats, buy-ins and guarantees.

On The Spartan PokerMega Stack INR 12 Lakh GTD takes place every Tuesday at 7:30pm, with a buy-in of INR 3,300. Yesterday, this tournament kicked off as scheduled and a field of 395 entries had registered which led to the total prize pool eventually being shared among the top 31 places with a minimum cash of INR 10,560.

The grind went on for over seven hours and eventually ended at 2:34am before we had our winner in Gaurav Sood aka ‘mozzie17’, a player who is slowly making a name for himself around the live and online circuit. Interestingly, he won the Mega Stack tournament on Spartan last month as well.

There were a number of well-known poker players who finished in the money last night, including a min-cash for Rajat Sharma aka ‘Garammasala’, a 17th place finish for Kartik Ved aka ‘TheInternetKid’, a 11h place finish for Pranav Khandalkar aka ‘pranavpoker’, a 9th place finish for Bhanu Prakash aka ‘spectre’ and a deep run for Vineet Kumar aka ‘The Mentalist’ who finished 4th for INR 97,680.

This latest victory for Sood saw him getting past quite a few known players including ‘ChipTricks’ in heads-up, who was his last victim of the night before he picked up the winner’s prize of INR 2,53,800. The final hand was in Level #65 with the blinds at 56,000/112,000 – 11,200, and here, Sood’s pocket Nines improved to Nines and Sixes to win the hand and tournament after a pre-flop all-in. ChipTricks collected INR 1,70,880 for finishing second.

Gutshot caught up with Sood after this victory to ask him how it feels. He said, “It has been surreal to have shipped Mega Stack for the second time. It’s a great structure that suits the way I play. All the hard work and volume is reaping benefits and all of this makes me more eager to learn and excel. Thank you for covering.”
