Since its release in 2009, League of Legends (LoL) has continued to top the video game charts all over the world. This multiplayer game is one of the best and most popular of the lot. Thanks to its roster of 140 plus game characters who are referred to as ‘champions’ and its ever-growing world of Runeterra, the game has kept fans coming back for more. Every champion is armed with their own fighting abilities and backstory which are a central part of the game. But there are a few champions that have continually been popular among gamers. Here are the top League of Legends champions that have remained a favourite among players.

1. Caitlyn

In the game, Caitlyn is a champion hailing from the town of Piltover. She’s an expert marksman and is armed with a one-of-a-kind hedge rifle. Her headshot ability allows her to deal double damage to opponents that are trapped and netted by her. She can also use her Yordle Snap Trap to immobilize the enemy for 1.5 seconds and land a solid headshot to them.

2. Ornn

Ornn is a spirit bestowed with the skills of craftsmanship and is one of the best performing champions in the game. He is a forger, which means he can create weapons and items for his allies and himself. In attack mode, Ornn uses Volcanic Rupture which can slow down enemy attacks and deal significant damage.

3. Shen

As a leader of the Kinkou, the secretive Ionian warriors, Shen is a champion worth playing. His existence between the spirit and mortal realm is what gives him his power. With a sharp spirit blade by his side, his attack is flawless and deals a great amount of damage to his enemies. Another favourite ability of the champion is the Spirit’s Refuge where attacks from his enemies or allies are blocked.

4. Ashe

Intelligent and idealistic, Ashe is a born leader of the Avarosan tribe. Her inherited magic allows her to wield the bow of True Ice. Like her icy nature, Ashe’s attack is also cold and harsh with her Frost Shot ability allowing her to slow her targets and intensify the damage. She is capable of maximizing her Focus attack and temporarily increase her attack speed to hit her opponents with a flurry of powerful attacks.

5. Twisted Fate

With a name like Twisted Fate, there’s no guessing what this elusive champion has up his sleeve. For this swindler, cards are how he brings his enemies down to their knees. Loaded with magic, his Wild Card attack deals damage to every enemy unit that it passes through. Even his Stacked Deck attack packs a punch by dealing a bonus attack while increasing the speed.
