‘Corona’ Casino in Vietnam set to reopen!

Vietnam’s casino industry is charging up to get back on track as the country’s current COVID-19 count is 288 out of which 241 have already recovered. A month ago, several casino operators in Vietnam confirmed a 15-day shutdown to maintain social distancing and combat the spread for the novel virus starting from 1 April.

An aptly named Vietnam’s only casino available to locals, Corona Resort and Casino on Phu Quoc Island is back open after announcing on their official website that operations at resort and gaming facilities recommenced on 8 May, after a month-long pause. On this occasion, the casino launched new incentive programs and amenities to bring back visitors, including transportation and breakfast, 40% discount for their Safari.

Undoubtedly, Vietnam is always on the must-visit list of India poker players. The country has been attracting major poker brands like Asian Poker Tour (APT) and World Poker Tour (WPT). It was only last year in November that India’s Akshay Nasa took down the APT Vietnam Main Event earning INR 18.79 Lakh in prize money. January 2020 saw India’s poker pro Sumit Sapra finishing 6^th in APT Vietnam Kickoff Main Event.

A statement on the casino website reads, “After a month of suspension in order to combat the COVID-19 disease, the Corona Resort & Casino has officially returned.”. The $2.1 billion integrated resort opened in January of 2019. Though Corona is back to business, Property General Manager, Goran Milosheski told that strict occupancy limits are being adhered to, and operating times have also been reduced to 12 hours a day.

Vietnamese players who are economically qualified under a three-year pilot plan scheme, which means, those who can prove their monthly income at least 10 million dongs are allowed to enter the casino property. Individuals are charged 1 million dong to enter Corona Casino. The casino offers 1,000 slot machines and 100 table games along with over 1,300 guestrooms, shopping malls, golf course, theater.
