The much-awaited FTS 3.0 kick-started amid high energy and anticipation. Day 1 of the event witnessed players slogging very hard to nail the top spots. The first feature tourney of FTS 3.0 was the Friday Special event. Winning this tourney would be a matter of pride for the player who ultimately nails this title. The FTS #2 Friday Special tournament was paused after the final table (FT) was set. Yes, we have the final eight all set to battle it out once the game resumes. Let’s do a quick recap of this event.
At the numero uno position, we have Haider Madraswala aka ‘Callmebabe’ as the chip leader (20,73,709 chips). In 2016, this poker pro won the Millionaire on Spartan Poker and added more than ₹12 Lakh to his bankroll. Entering the FT with a staggering 86 big blinds (BB), Madraswala may take home the Friday Special title.
In the second chip lead position, we have Sathyandev Yadav aka ‘yoda23’ who entered the FT with a chip stack of 13,62,004. Yadav has a good start with 57 BB. If he plays his cards right, he could surprise many by claiming the top spot.
Poker pro Guneet Kwatra aka ‘GeeKay’ is no stranger to the final table action. He was the runner-up in the IOPC July 2021 Super Highroller and even won the Millionaire on Spartan Poker back in February 2018 for ₹24.5 Lakh. Entering the FT in the third position with 12,72,014 chips, which translates to 53 BB, Kwatra needs to bring his A-game and let the rest unfold.
Akshay Kapoor aka ‘AustralianAccountant’ is among the strongest contenders for the top spot. In November 2019, Kapoor finished 15th in WSOP Circuit Main Event in Sydney for AUD 26,729. This is no small feat for a poker player. It will be interesting to see what he brings to the table with his position as the fourth-highest chip lead with 9,82,941 chips (41 BB).
In the fifth position, we have online reg Ram Kakkar aka ‘JohnnieRunner-Runner’ with 5,74,934 chips (24 BB). In August 2021, Kakkar finished 3rd in the WPT India Main Event on Adda52. In the sixth position, we have Naresh M aka ‘money_bomb’ who was also the runner-up in a Highroller event on Spartan Poker. Naresh M entered with a chip stack of 2,41,436 (10 BB). Both players will fight hard for the title as the FT is loaded with stalwarts. It will be fun to watch how they tackle their opponents.
Mohit Mehta aka ‘thejoker’ is an online reg with multiple cashes to his name. This pro was no less than a firecracker during the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) January 2021. Mehta finished second in the SSS Sunday SuperStack event on Spartan Poker for ₹5.79 Lakh in May 2020. He is at a slight disadvantage at the Friday Special FT with only 2,05,932 in chips (9 BB), but if Mehta gets it right, he may have a shot at victory.
We have Arunkumar Singh aka ‘denoi’ who has the smallest chip stack of 1,87,030 (8 BB) in the eighth position. Will he be the first to bust out, or can he clinch the title?
