4 gamblers and a cow slaughterer nabbed at Pilibhit, UP


The Jahanabad police on Monday arrested four people involved in online gambling and betting, and another person alleged to have been involved in betting and cow slaughtering. The other individual has also been accused of carrying a sum of INR 25,000 from two police stations. 

The four accused have been identified as 30 years-old Amit alias Himanshu Mishra, 52 years-old Shri Krishna Chandra Mishra, both of Sher Mohammad locality, 32-years-old Raja Gupta, a resident of Asafjan locality and 42 years-old Rohit Singh of Khushimal area. The SHO of Pilibhit Kotwali police station, Shrikant Dwivedi, obtained a search warrant to conduct raids on illegal casinos of the four accused of betting. While the raid was on, the police were assaulted with knives, though they fortunately managed to escape. 

The four of them, operating from Delhi were involved in gambling and betting network. They would forward messages about the person that places the bet and provide monetary transactions to Delhi. From the four accused, the police seized INR 32K , 10 smartphones, a calculator, two knifes, 11 registers and 4 diaries containing transaction details. The SHO of Pilibhit, Dwivedi said that they have been booked under Section 307 (attempt to kill) of IPC, Section 3 and 4 of the Public Gaming Act 1867 and Section 25 of the Arms Act. 

Another person that was allegedly arrested for betting and cow slaughtering was identified as 39 years-old Fida Hussain of village Aimi, from Khamaria bridge on the Bareilly-Haridwar highway (NH-74). The Jahanabad police station SHO Harsh Vardhan Singh said that a reward of INR 25K had been placed for whoever helps in capturing Hussain. A total of 12 cases were registered against his name under the State’s Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, and he was wanted under the Gangster Act, which had recently been applied to him.
