Florian Duta Wynn Summer Classic Championship

While the World Series of Poker is wrapping up at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino, another poker tournament series has come to an end in Las Vegas. The Wynn Summer Classic Championship came to an end a few days back at the Wynn Las Vegas, with the $ 1,600 No Limit Hold’em Championship.

The tournament kicked off on 13th July and it attracted a massive field of 2,119 entries which more than doubled the advertised guarantee of $1.5 million, to create a new prize pool of $3,083,145. The tournament came to an end a few days later, with Romania’s Florian Duta coming out on top of the field.

Duta took home the top prize of $429,161 for this effort, which turned out to be the biggest live cash of his career, and he also took his overall winnings past the $1.2 million mark. The top 224 players in this tournament were paid out a minimum cash prize of $3,391 and Duta took home the biggest prize, after beating Bulgaria’s Yuliyan Kolev in heads-up.

Kolev wasn’t able to get past Duta and he had to settle for the second-place prize of $283,796, which turned out to be the highest live cash of his career as well. As per the Wynn Poker Room Twitter updates, Duta came into the final 7 with enough of chips to cover nearly all his opponents, so it wouldn’t have been a tough final table for him.

Final table results:

  1. Florian Duta – $429,161
  2. Yuliyan Kolev – $283,796
  3. Cy Williams – $195,722
  4. Steven Van Zadelhoff – $139,801
  5. Kovoor Jayaram – $103,556
  6. Jack O’Neill – $79,966
  7. Richard Tatalovich – $64,127
  8. Yosuke Iwata – $52,998
  9. Yan Rao – $44,611
