Florens Feenstra Wins WPT Amsterdam Main Event

The WPT Amsterdam tournament series was part of Season XVI of World Poker Tour’s Main Tour, and it took place between 16th and 20th April 2018. After three days of play at the Holland Casino in Amsterdam, it was USA poker pro Justin Bonomo who was in the lead but ultimately, it was Florens Feenstra who shipped the Main Event.

The event was a €3,300 buy-in one, which attracted a total of 207 entries and generated a prize pool of €602,370. A total of 26 players were to be paid out with a minimum cash prize of €5,410, and players from over 10 countries finished in the money of this event.

Local boy Florens Feenstra was the chip leader at the start of the day and he deservingly won the tournament as well, taking home €156,370 for first-place. This became the Dutchman’s fourth 6-figure live cash and the second highest live cash of his poker career. He once took home €153,689 for winning the Master Classics of Poker in 2013.

Canada’s Ema Zajmovic reached heads-up with Feenstra and the former had a comfortable chip lead -75 BBs to 50 BBs. The heads-up battle lasted almost 100 hands and the lead kept switching between the two. Finally, the result was declared on Hand #243 of the day. Feenstra moved all-n holding K-9 and Zajmovic called with K-4. The board opened 2-K-8-J-6 and Feenstra was declared winner with K-pair and a higher kicker! Included in the cash prize was a $15,000 ticket to the Tournament of Champions.
