Flashback Friday: Biggest Poker Partnerships Of March 2020

While many of us have probably settled into the new year, around this time in March last year was when the unfortunate news of the lockdown hit countries across the world. Many highly anticipated events in the real money gaming industry were also postponed or altogether cancelled due to global health risks. However, this was also the time where many new partnerships and associations started forming between some of the biggest poker companies. Here’s a flashback list of all the new partnerships that came forth due to the coronavirus.

1. Asian Poker Tour announces Online Series on Natural8

Last year in March, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) announced that they would be collaborating with Natural8, a popular online poker platform in Asia. With this association, APT was able to continue hosting their poker tournaments despite the outbreak of the virus.

 2. WPT launches online series with partypoker

While the spread of COVID-19 was shutting down doors, poker events like the World Poker Tour (WPT) took its poker events online. WPT is among the oldest poker organizations and once live poker could no longer be held, they partnered with the online poker platform, partypoker

3. GGPoker Partners With Fantastic Ladies In Poker (FLIP)

In celebration of Women’s Day, GGPoker, one of the biggest global poker platforms, partnered with FLIP. The association with the female-focused player community was GGPoker’s efforts to promote female poker players in the game and make it more inclusive.

 4. Irish Poker Open partners with partypoker

While postponing live poker events was inevitable, hosting online poker events was not. This is why the Irish Poker Open partnered with partypoker in March 2020, to hold all its events online. The Irish Poker Open is the longest-running poker tournament in Europe, so its determination to keep the show rolling was not a surprise.

Fortunately, new COVID-19 vaccines are now made available. Businesses have slowly begun to open doors with appropriate regulations in place. Even live poker events are slated to make a comeback and the entire poker community is eagerly waiting for that day. Meanwhile, these associations between brands have only resulted in poker making headlines.
