Jio’s New Call of Duty Esports Tournament Boasts Of 25 Lakh Prize Pool


Chip-maker Qualcomm has partnered with Jio to host a Call of Duty esports event. The tournament titled Call of Duty Mobile Aces Esports Challenge will take place on the JioGames Esports platform. Call of Duty (COD) is a popular first-person shooter game released by Activision in 2003. Since then, it has gone on to become one of the top video and mobile games in the world.

The esports challenge will have a massive prize pool of INR 25 Lakh and Jio and Qualcomm CDMA Technologies Asia Pacific Pte (QCTAP) have already begun registrations for it in India. Both Jio and non-Jio users will be able to participate in the tournament, as per the released statement.

Rajen Vagadia, President of Qualcomm India, stated that mobile gaming was one of the fastest growing segments in India. He added that almost 90% of the gamers in India use their mobile phones as their primary device for gaming.

Talking about Qualcomm’s collaboration with Jio, Vagadia said, “We wanted to collaborate with a brand like Jio that deeply understands the opportunity and matches our belief, not only in the superlative experiences that our technology delivers, but also in the tremendous gaming capabilities of Indians in the hyper-competitive world of mobile esports.”

“With a shared vision of empowering gamers Qualcomm Snapdragon and JioGames aim to create a platform that will not only drive gaming-oriented content but will provide a training ground for gamers to hone their skills for more professional level opportunities,” the statement said.

Lone players and teams are both welcome to participate in the tournament. Registrations for solo players closed on April 11th 2021 while the registrations for 5v5 team players closed on April 30th 2021. There was no registration or participation fee for the esports tournament.

Qualifiers for the tournament will be held from June 11th onwards while the finals will take place on June 20th 2021. All the matches will be telecasted live on JioTV, Esports HD channel, Facebook Watch, and YouTube JioGames channel.
