EPT Cyprus 2023 ME: Apoorva Goel Eliminated On Day 3

The sole Indian player grinding in Day 3 of the EPT Cyprus 2023 Main Event, Apoorva Goel has exited the tournament in the 140th spot for a payday of $10,700 (₹8,88,850).

The European Poker Tour (EPT) Cyprus 2023 is in full swing, with Day 2 of their highly anticipated Main Event (ME) ending on 18th October. Indian poker pro Apoorva Goel has found a spot for himself in the list of 155 players in the hunt to walk away with the coveted title. 

Lebanon’s Nicolas Chouity had put up a dominating performance when he won the ME title in 2010 in Monte Carlo. 13 years later, he finds himself on the crux of repeating the feat as Chouity is at the top of the chip lead count in EPT Cyprus 2023 Main Event at the end of Day 2. Ahead of Day 3, Chouity finds himself with 906,000 chips against his name, which hands him 181 big blinds to start the day.

Goel is the only Indian player in the race, with the poker pro sitting with 1,72,000 chips. He is assured of winning nothing short of $9,275 and will be eager to fare well at the event and get the better of the remaining 154 players to ship the coveted title.

It is also worth noting that Ankit Ahuja was the other Indian player who participated in the event. Despite making it past the money bubble, Ahuja found himself on the list of players who were busted after making it in the money on Day 2 in the EPT Cyprus Main Event 2023. The poker pro who worked with PokerStars previously exited at the 198th place to cash $8,325.

It was the first time that EPT made a stop in Cyprus after the country became a popular destination for multiple poker operators over the last few years. With Goel making Day 3 of the much awaited EPT Cyprus 2023 Main Event, it remains interesting to see how far he goes in the tournament.
