APT Super High Roller: Winners List

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is one of the most prominent poker series in the Asian continent and is quickly gaining solid ground in the big leagues. As important as the series is, the players who win marquee tournaments across various stops are of equal prominence.

In this article we will look at the winners of the Super High Roller 8 Max tournaments across series like APT Phu Quoc, Taipei, Summer Series Hanoi, Da Nang, and Incheon, South Korea.

APT Phu Quoc 2023

This series ran from 24th March to 2nd April 2023 at the Corono Resort and Casino. The Super High Roller event in this series came with a buy-in of VND 86,000,000 (~$3,698 / ~₹2,93,251). A Vietnamese player named Nguyen Trung Quan won this heavy-duty title for a sum of VND 1,196,680,000 (~$51,450 / ~₹40,80,564). The total entries in this event stood at 56 (34 unique) and saw Quan ship his first ever live poker title.

APT Taipei 2023

This live poker series was hosted from 28th April to 7th May 2023 at the Asia Poker Arena. The tournament had a buy-in of TWD 150,000 (~$4,950 / ~₹3,87,666) and recorded 117 in total entries. The event crowned United Kingdom’s Sam Lam as winner. The top place finisher took home a pay cheque of TWD 3,997,400 (~$129,900 / ~₹1,03,30,969), from a final prize pool of TWD 15,888,600 (~$3,21,256 / ~₹ 2,66,98,622). Lam had reportedly started playing poker only four months prior to this event. But with some impeccable gameplay, the British player nailed the top title. Japanese player Jun Obara was runner-up for TWD 2,701,100 (~$87,760 / ~₹69,80,531).

APT Summer Series Hanoi Vietnam 2023

This poker extravaganza saw Sua Shung Er emerge victorious in the Super High Roller event. This Malaysia-born Taiwanese national was among the 59 total entries who each paid a buy-in of VND 120,000,000 (~$5,160 / ~₹4,09,087) to participate.

From this Super High Roller event Shung Er added VND 1,922,930,000 (~$82,700 / ~₹65,55,382) to his bankroll and grabbed his second APT trophy at the Grand Loyal Poker Club in Hanoi. The prize pool at this event stood at VND 6,409,760,000 (~$2,62,964 / ~₹ 2,18,51,251). The 29-year-old from Penang had also won the Single Day High Roller at the Incheon stop in 2022.

APT Summer Series Da Nang Vietnam 2023

This series was hosted from 21st to 30th July 2023 at Furama Resort, Da Nang. Australian player Julian Warhurst took home VND 1,003,840,000 (~$42,430 / ~₹34,22,516) for his top place finish.

From a prize pool of VND 2,390,080,000 generated by 22 total entries, Warhurst emerged victorious. Thailand’s Satanan Jungrungreangkit became runner-up for VND 669,220,000 (~$28,280 / ~₹22,81,654) in this VND 120,000,000 (~$5160 / ~₹4,09,130) buy-in event.

APT Incheon South Korea

This stop was hosted at Paradise City Casino from 25th August to 3rd September. Serbian poker player Milos Petakovic turned his chip lead into a smashing victory. He took the numero uno spot for a sum of KRW 145,650,000 (~$109,990 / ~₹90,68,365).

Petakovic beat Japanese player Shimizu Nozomu who added KRW 103,540,000 (~$78,190 / ~₹64,46,226) to his bankroll for his runner-up finish. The KRW 7,000,000 (~$5,250 / ₹4,35,868) buy-in event had 84 total entries that generated a prize pool of KRW 529,620,000 (~$3,96,981 / ₹3,29,77,780).

Upcoming APT Super High Roller Event
