Thousands of poker tournaments, leagues and events take places around the world each year, but nothing gets bigger than the World Series of Poker (WSOP), which is the world’s largest and most popular poker tournament series. Poker players around the world are now getting prepared to take part in WSOP 2018, which is scheduled between 29th May and 17th July 2018, once again at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
This year, the thousands of poker pros present at the venue will be treated to something completely new, with WSOP partnering with UMG Media Corp (UMG) to bring e-Sports to this highly prestigious event. UMG is one of the world’s top e-Sports companies, with live competition centers across several cities of USA.
Last year, the WSOP attracted nearly a quarter of a million people to the Rio, and this year, those people will be offered a nice distraction with the UMG Esports Stage, where players can compete in free-to-play games such as Fortnite, Hearthstone, Madden, Call of Duty, FIFA 2018 and more.
“Last year we watched our initiative to grow esports in Las Vegas grow by leaps and bounds. Bringing the UMG Esports Stage into the World Series of Poker events is an amazing next step in continuing this initiative into 2018 and beyond. UMG will utilize its ground-breaking event management app to help organize the event and to constantly update participants of upcoming play and special events at the UMG stage,” commented Dave Antony, UMG CEO, on their partnership with WSOP.
The UMG Esports Stage will be located within the Rio’s massive Pavilion Room, which is the main tournament room of the World Series. It remains to see whether the poker players will be attracted to this stage or not. However, there have been a lot of poker players who have been heavily involved in e-Sports in the past, so UMG will expect a positive outcome from this partnership.
