‘DEV3088’ Wins Mega Freeze at Spartan Poker


Monday night’s Mega Freeze tournament at The Spartan Poker saw a participation of 131 players last night. The original guaranteed prizepool of INR 5 Lakhs (buy-in of INR 5,500) was easily surpassed to eventually end up at INR 6.55 Lakhs in this freezeout tournament. This big prizepool was distributed to the top 17 places with a min-cash of INR 10,284. The winning player in question was ‘dev3088’ who took down the tournament outlasting the rest of the field for a payday of INR 140,560. ‘dev3088’ defeated ‘JesusOnAcid’ in heads-up battle, with the latter taking INR 135,588 for the runner-up finish.

The 6 hour long grind ended at 12:48 am in the Level #37 with blinds running 8,000-16,000-2,000. dev3088 had 9h 6h while his opponent JesusOnAcid was holding Kh 6s. After posting blinds, it went check-check all the way to the river on a board of 8d Ts Tc Td 5h. That board gave three of a kind, Tens to both players but dev3088 emerged as the winner with his King kicker. Post this hand, a deal was made between both headsup players as per the chips held and dev3088 was declared as the winner of this Mega Freeze tourney. 

Many of the regs took part in the tournament including ‘99ayka99’ who made a 5th place finish for INR 48,339, Sahil ‘ImHighIshove’ Mahboobani (8th place finish for INR 21,942), Vinayak ‘bajajinga’ Bajaj made a 11th place finish for INR 13,427, Rubin ‘kornkid’ Labroo made a 12thplace finish for INR 11,790, Siddhant ‘bullzeye’ Kapoor made INR 10,284 for a 16th place finish and Pulkit ‘Championplayer’ Goyal who finished in 17th place took home INR 10,284. 

The second week of INR 15 Lakhs Hot Tournament Leaderboard is on with many contenders competing each other to claim the uptop prize of INR 5 Lakhs. On top presently is Bangalore-based poker player Vinay B a.k.a ‘Minimalist’ who has played 16 tournaments so far scoring a first place finish in two of them (i.e. the Elite and DareDevil titles) along with final tables in 5 other featured tournaments.
