Delta Corp To Submit Environment Impact Report For Its 3,000 Cr Project

As per the latest news reports, Delta Corp, India’s only listed casino and hospitality giant will be submitting a report to Goa’s State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) upon the completion of its Environment Impact Assessment (EIA). This report is for the company’s proposed ₹3,000 Crore worth of integrated township project—Deltin Entertainment City. This integrated township is reportedly located at Dhargalim in Pernem Taluka near the New Goa International Airport (MOPA).

The media reports state that the approval for the integrated township project came through in the month of September. Delta Corp has reportedly been developing the proposed Deltin Entertainment City over 100 acres of land which is close to the new MOPA Airport. This will make the township project one of India’s first large scale land-based integrated resorts. 

The MOPA Airport became operational starting 5th January 2023. Delta Corp’s ambitious project will reportedly include electronic casinos, water parks, themed hotels, and theaters. As per latest news reports, Deltin Entertainment City is expected to be operational in 2027.

SEAC in its meeting dated 18th January 2023 reportedly decided to grant ‘Terms of Reference’ for conducting the EIA for Delta’s proposed township and area development projects. The project assessment will include a study of land use under agriculture, environmental and social-ecological impact of the township.

Goa SEAC has reportedly sought details of the land acquisition and rehabilitation of villages, communities and environmentally sensitive areas around the project. An ecology and biodiversity study of the area will be carried out, state news reports. The township project reportedly needs to have an energy plan as per the required environment clearance standards.

Delta Corp made headlines in December 2022 when it completed the merging of its two subsidiaries—Daman Entertainment Private Limited (DEPL) and Daman Hospitality Private Limited (DHPL). These two subsidiaries were merged in order to optimize the usage of the company’s assets and achieve better economies of scale. This led to a slight uptick in Delta Corp share price.
