Delta Corp Calls Daman Casino License News FAKE

Several media reports stated that UT administration of Daman and Diu had issued a casino license inter alia to Deltin Hotel, Daman. The news reports further went on to add that social media was flooded with tweets stating how the firm had received a license for slot machines in Daman. As per a news report by MoneyControl.com, Delta Corp in an exchange filing has denied all claims of receiving any license from the UT administration of Daman and Diu. 

The media report further included a statement from the exchange filing dated 16th September. The exchange filing read, “We have been made aware that there are various online articles and social media posts claiming that the UT administration of Daman and Diu has granted casino licenses inter alia to Deltin Hotel, Daman. Please note that neither the company nor its subsidiaries has received any communication regarding grant of any such license and we cannot verify the authenticity of such claims.”

Gutshot Magazine reached out to Delta Corp for a clarification on this matter but the company has denied a request for a statement on the news reports and social media fury over Delta Corp getting a green signal in the casino license issue.

When the news broke on 16th September about Deltin Daman receiving a casino license, the company’s stock was expected to rise significantly on the bullish news. The casino operator never issued an official statement to the media, but news reports revealed that the company could not verify the authenticity of the claims made in those media reports and social media posts.

Tides turned pretty quickly when the Delta Corp’s stock plunged by over 4.6% and the scrip settled at ₹215 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). As of 21st September, the stock is priced at ₹210 down by 0.66%.
