Deepak Bothra Ships IOPC Event #19

Yesterday was the fourth day of this edition of India’s biggest online poker tournament series. Lakhs of rupees were up for grabs yesterday at the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) and the third tournament of the day was IOPC Event #19 INR 3 Lac GTD (550 R+A), which began at 6pm IST.

The INR 3 lakh guarantee was beaten with a total of 775 entries registering to the tournament and a new prize pool of INR 3,87,500 was created. The top 27 players shared the prize pool with a minimum cash prize of INR 3,875 and it was Deepak Bothra aka ‘chimpoo’ who walked away with the top prize.

Bothra is a regular online grinder and this isn’t the first time he has won big on The Spartan Poker. He was a Destiny 2.0 winner last year, then was a Destiny winner again in January, and also won the PLO High Roller in the last edition of the IOPC in January 2018. He’s used to long hours of grinding and big paydays.

In this particular IOPC tournament, he topped the field and took home INR 85,831 for first place, beating ‘amit28091992’ in heads-up. amit28091992 himself is used to the big tournaments, having won a Destiny tournament just last week, for INR 4+ lakh and a ticket to the Destiny SnG Finale. Here, he took home INR 57,931 for second place.

Gutshot caught up with Bothra after this win. “I am fighting for a top finish on the IOPC leaderboard, and this win in Event #19 keeps the spirit high,” he said. He is currently third on the IOPC Leaderboard after Day 4, after finishing runners-up in another event the previous day. amit28091992 went all-in pre-flop with A-2 and Bothra called with A-J. The board didn’t help either player and Bothra won the pot with high card Ace and a higher kicker J.
