The European Poker Tour (EPT) recently began a tournament series in the beautiful city of Barcelona. The stop, scheduled between 21st August to 2nd September, will host a total of 34 tournaments during this period and some of the top European poker pros will also be a part of the action at the EPT Barcelona.
A couple of tournaments have already kicked off at the Casino Barcelona, with the first highlight tournament also beginning. Yesterday, we completed Day 1 of the €10,300 EPT High Roller, with a pretty healthy participation being recorded and the late registration period still on.
A total of 117 entries registered to the tournament, with 47 survivors bagging up their chips to move on to Day 2. At the end of the first day, US poker pro David Peters has taken the chip lead from among the survivors. He will come back and try to keep the lead today, with the intention of adding to his $22.8 million in live poker cashes.
“It’s probably my favourite stop. Huge action, big fields – love it here. The day went great. I accumulated chips very well and won a nice pot against [Daniel] Dvoress at the end, and yeah just been going pretty well. Hopefully, I can keep it going! I just play and try and get as many chips as I can. I try to just bring my A-Game. I’m comfortable at all the different stack sizes; just play my game whether I’m short stack or big stack. Just go from there!” said Peters after this first day of play.
End of Day 1 chip counts:
Joao Vieira and Liv Boeree are a couple of other popular pros among the top stacks. Day 2 begins shortly, and we expect the entries to swell on this day, so stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com for the latest updates.
