Christopher Back, Shaun Deeb headline WSOPE PLO Event

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is currently hosting a series in Europe at the Kings Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. After presenting gold bracelets to two winners already, Event #3: €550 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed has completed its two days of starting flights, with a combined total of 572 total entries registering.

The tournament had a buy-in of €550 and an advertised prize pool of €100k which was broken on the first day itself, with 230 entries registering and India’s Manish Goenka among the 21 survivors. On Day 1B, an even better field of 342 entries registered, with the prize pool nearly tripling to €283,052.

Both starting flights have already paid out a small proportion of finishers and 25 survivors bagged up on Day 1B, which leaves a total of 46 players to come out later today on Day 2. Highlighting the day was Canada’s Christopher Back and USA’s Shaun Deeb, who are first and second in the chip lead respectively.

As for Deeb, he already has four WSOP gold bracelets and also two cashes in two events so far in this WSOP series in Europe, soon to become three in three. The player has over $6 million in live poker cashes and he will be one to watch out for on Day 2. Another 4-time bracelet winner in the mix is Max Pescatori who currently has 565,000 in chips.

India’s hopes on the second qualifying day were dashed as Rakesh Lalwani busted before players bagged their chips at the end of the day. Check out the top ten current chip stacks of Day 1B of the PLO Event:

  1. Christopher Back – 885,000
