China’s Quan Zhou leads WSOPE Monster Stack Day 1A

Every poker player in and around Europe must be extremely excited at the moment with the 2018 WSOP Europe taking place, scheduled between 9 October and 2 November 2018. Over €13 million is going to be given away in guaranteed prizes during this time in Europe’s richest poker festival.

So far, four of the ten WSOP gold bracelets have been given away, with the latest going to Austria’s Hanh Tran. The fifth tournament to begin at the Kings Casino in Rozvadov was Event #5: €1,100 MONSTER STACK NLHE and yesterday was the first of three scheduled starting flights for this tournament.

We’re expecting another monster field in this tournament as 148 entries registered on Day 1A, and play narrowed down to the final 30 contenders who bagged their chips to return on Day 2 which is scheduled for 21 October. Similar fields on Day 1B and 1C will mean that the prize pool will reach close to the €500,000 guarantee.

From these 148 entries, we had plenty of WSOP gold bracelet winners who busted their stacks along the way but one player who is still in the mix is 6-time bracelet winner Chris Ferguson, who progresses with 168,000 chips. The chip leader currently is China’s Quan Zhou, who began the day slowly but chipped up in the last few hands to end with a massive stack of 519,500.

Representing Team India were a couple of players in Rakesh Lalwani and Bharath Janardhan. After cashing out in the Colossus Event, Lalwani didn’t do as well as expected, busting his stack during the day while Janardhan progressed with a decent stack of 126,500 chips.

Current top ten chip stacks:

  1. Quan Zhou – 519,500
  2. Jaroslav Peter – 397,000
  3. Michal Mrakes – 389,000
  4. Volodymyr Kernytskyi – 378,000
  5. Matous Houzvicek – 319,000
  6. Roman Svab – 294,000
  7. Pete Chen – 244,500
  8. Jesper Hansen – 236,500
  9. Henrik Brockmann – 225,500
  10. Chin Wei Lim – 221,000
