Asia Poker League (APL) is one of the leading live poker brands across Asia, with frequent events and series hosted across the continent. The most recent one was APL Taiwan 2019, which ran between 20-28 April 2019 at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) in Taipei, Taiwan.

A couple of the biggest tournaments from the series were the Main Event and the Highroller, which were also among the last to wind up at the CTP Club. The NTD 22,000 (~$713) APL Taiwan Main Event saw a total of 298 entries across three starting flights and the final 9 returned on the final day to battle it out for all glory, the trophy and the prize money.

Local player Chi Jen Chen has a few cashes in Macau and Las Vegas over the years, and he used that experience to take his FT chip lead to a victory here in Taiwan. Chen won the top prize of NTD 1,278,500 (~$ 41,474) to win not only his highest live cash but he also more than doubled his existing career winnings till date.

Final table pay-outs:

  2. Lee Chin Feng – NTD 897,000
  3. Chou Chun An – NTD 576,800

  7. Kwon Eun Ho – NTD 194,400
  8. Chan Ho Park – NTD 159,800
  9. Liang Chih Ying – NTD 127,900

Only 23 entries took part in the tournament and from them, Yea topped the field and bagged the title along with a payday of NTD 557,800 (~$18,000).
