Breaking: Tamil Nadu Cabinet Approves Online Gaming Ban

In latest news reports, the Tamil Nadu cabinet has approved an ordinance banning online games in the state. As per media reports, a cabinet headed by Chief Minister MK Stalin approved an ordinance banning online gaming in the state on Monday. The Tamil Nadu government had reportedly moved to the Supreme Court against the Madras High Court’s order which threw out the Tamil Nadu Gaming and Police Laws (Amendment) Act of 2021. This law would ban playing games like online rummy and online poker on stakes. But, at the same time, the HC stated that there wasn’t anything in place that could prevent the Tamil Nadu state government from enacting a new law which could regulate the online gaming space.

News reports reveal that Tamil Nadu state government stated how teenagers and adults were spending their earnings and savings on online betting games. The state government reportedly argued that even though rummy could be a game of skill but when played on stakes it turns into gambling. For more news and updates, keep reading Gutshot Magazine.
