The Tamil Nadu government had reportedly moved to the Supreme Court against the Madras High Court’s order which threw out the Tamil Nadu Gaming and Police Laws (Amendment) Act of 2021. This law would ban playing games like online rummy and online poker on stakes. But, at the same time, the HC stated that there wasn’t anything in place that could prevent the Tamil Nadu state government from enacting a new law which could regulate the online gaming space.
