Brain Duel Games Pvt. Ltd. is a company that was initiated with a vision to promote mind sports in the country. On 28th April, they hosted poker, rummy and chess invite-only tournaments at the Pullman Hotel in New Delhi. The poker segment featured a 10 lakh GTD tournament, which was sponsored by Indian poker websites PokerHigh and Hippo52. This was followed by a celebrity poker tournament, which was the highlight of the event.
The poker championship was won by Aditya Kumar while the celebrity poker championship added to the glamour quotient of the event. The table consisted of people like Bollywood star Arjun Rampal, The Spartan Poker MD Amin Rozani, PokerBaazi CEO Navkiran Singh and a few others. Ultimately, the celebrity tournament was won by Bollywood actress Vidushi Mehra. Look at some of the action from that table:
Co-founded by Gaurav Gaggar and Kunal Lalani, Brain Duel launched a first-of-its-kind mind sports league series on the same day as this event. A carefully selected array of skill-based games including Chess, Rummy, e-Sports, Poker and Quiz will be brought together to attract nationwide talent to take part in the league series which is preliminarily scheduled for October 2018.
The Brain Duel Sports League will become an open platform, where the best in the country from various mind sports will compete against each other. The competition will be played in a tournament as well as league format across all categories. These tournaments will have an open entry structure, where amateurs and professionals can both participate. The selection process will take place in both online and offline formats.
Indian chess grandmaster Tania Sachdev was also present at the launch event:
The league format will be team-based, wherein teams representing different regions will compete for the prize pool of more than INR 5 Crores over a 3-day event. All teams shall entail a franchise fee, after which team owners can sign players who will represent their teams at the grand finale in October.
Regarding the launch of the mind sports league, Gaurav Gaggar said, “It has been my long-term vision to host organised tournaments and leagues for all mind sports existing in India. Players participating in skilled-based games don’t always get the necessary recognition they deserve. Through Brain Duel, we shall make an effort to give a much-needed structure and platform to all players, who seek mind sports as a potential sporting career. We intend to align ourselves with the official federations and governing bodies for a smooth flow of the league and work with them to create a fan and brand oriented league conducive to the growth of the sport. The structure of the league series has been planned in a way that it reaches out to multiple towns and cities across India.”
We will be following Brain Duel and will bring to you all the latest updates on this sports league which will kick off in October. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com!
