The much-awaited esports title launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) in the Indian market surprised many with its success. The total number of views for the launch party passed the 25 million mark across all platforms. The event had 18 of the country’s prominent gamers, content creators, and known personalities in the world of esports. Each of them attended with their exclusive squad and were a part of this virtual launch party held between 8th and 9th July, 2021.
There were about 97.19 Lakh and 79.14 Lakh total views on the first and second day, respectively, from BGMI’s official YouTube channel which were in Hindi and English languages. The engagement throughout the launch party proved the potential of the game and that it lived up to the hype it created in the whole esports and gaming community.
Some of India’s prominent content creators featured in the BGMI launch party tournament, led by 18 squad captains which were, Dynamo, Kronten, Mortal, Ghatak, Shreeman Legend, Maxtern, Gaming Guru, Classified YT, Antaryami, Alpha Clasher, K18, Snax, Sangwan, Godnixon, Ronak, Jonathan, Bandookbaaz and Clash Universe. This ultimate stand-off showcased the in-game skills of the country’s finest gamers. Hindi casters Animesh ‘Thug’ Agarwal and Ocean Sharma with their host Varun Thakur, and English casters Icybaby12, Experiment, FYXS with their host Super Jonny, were enthralled to see their favourite streamers back in the action after a gap of several months. The launch party tournament was live-streamed on the BGMI’s Facebook and YouTube channels in Hindi as well as English.
The tournament, which boasted a whopping prize pool of ₹6,00,000, saw Team Snax emerging as the winning team and securing a prize money of ₹3,30,000. While Team Kronten and Team Ronak took home ₹1,50,000 and ₹1,00,000 with their second and third-place finish respectively.
