Arvind Halaharvi takes down Destiny on Spartan Poker

Ask any poker pro what’s their favourite tournament on Spartan Poker and there’s a high chance he/she will end up answering with ‘Destiny’. Hosted every Wednesday night, this tournament has grown in popularity, now running in its 10th edition on the platform. Last night was another Destiny INR 20 Lakh GTD tournament on Spartan and once again, it was a massive success.

Even with a high buy-in of INR 5,500, the guarantee was smashed with 188 players joining plus re-entries and re-buys which took the prize pool all the way up to INR 22.25 Lakh. As the tournament progressed, the prize pool was then shared by the top 40 players with a min-cash of INR 13,350.

Arvind Halaharvi goes by the player ID ‘FloatTheBoat’ on Spartan Poker and last night, he went all the way to win this major and also take away the biggest prize of INR 5,89,625. Apart from a 7-figure score on the dot com version of PokerStars long back, this becomes one of Halaharvi’s biggest wins in online poker.

“I play on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays on Spartan Poker. Last night, I sent my last report in office around 8:30 before registering to Destiny later after getting home and freshening up at around 10-ish. My poker bankroll has been dwindling and I had a choice between Destiny and Vegas on PokerBaazi and I made this choice after a phone call with a friend. I doubled up with AK early on and was in the safe zone for a while after that. The Final Table was tough as there were guys like ‘gettingthere’ (Eka Vedantham) and ‘Pro’ (Anant Purohit). Pro has help me with hand review and stuff in the past so heads-up was fun since he knows what I think and I know how he thinks,” Halaharvi told Gutshot after this victory.

Like he mentioned, he faced off against Anant Purohit aka ‘Pro’ in heads-up who has been getting some really big scores in recent times. He picked up 3 titles in the recent IOPC series on Spartan including two in one day, the biggest of the two being the IOPC Super High Roller where he won INR 30L.

On a parting note, Halaharvi added, Spartan Poker is the place to be and place to win. One lesson I’ve learnt is having strict bankroll management and I hope I can keep evolving and learning in the time to come. For those who don’t know, I’m affiliated to partypoker and this is my 15th year with the brand, so it has been a long journey. I think Indians are born for poker and we’re already doing so, but we will surely rule the field of poker in the next 2-3 years.”
